Quest-shuns : A Poem by Etan Thomas

Etan Thomas

Etan Thomas loves poetry. So much so he writes it. In 2005 he released a book of poems entitled More Than an Athlete: Poems by Etan Thomas. Some of the poems he wrote didn’t make it. This is one of them.

*Thats actually a lie. He had nothing to do with this.

Hey what should we
do with this man?
Thissss man
Thissss man
This basketball
playing
peace
keeping
truth seeking man
I am from Tulsa and
I am from my mother and
I am from my father and
I am from this world but
I am not of it any longer.

Man who takes the joy from me
I am in Washington DC

I am a Wizard
I am a Wizard
Where did the magic go?
Where did the love go?
Did the Black Eyed Peas
not ask us
a remixed version
of
that
question?
I need to leave
but they do not let me
I have a journey I must take
but they deny me my right to fly
Can I not
fly?
You would put shackles on me?

Magic
Wizardry
Not tricks
Illusions,
Michael
But alas,
Wizards are not allowed
in the magician’s
alliance
Are we all so wrapped
up in wins and
money and
fame and
Thissss game?
Thissss game?
This stain and these chains and
Thissss game
I will be here
When you wake up
Steven Curtis Chapman songs
Love out loud
Where will you
Be?
Where?
Oh,
Where
In the world
is Carmen
San Diego?
Can I go try
and find her
if she is lost?
Or will you
not let me?
Will you hold
me
here?

I have no friends
outside the wind.
Questions
I have them.
