KEVIN DURANT’S MVP SPEECH IS EVERYTHING THAT’S WRONG WITH SPORTS

USP NBA: KEVIN DURANT-MVP PRESS CONFERENCE S BKN USA OK
Star forward, Kevin Durant won the 2013-2014 regular season MVP award this week and gave what some people are calling a “moving and emotional speech.”  I am not some people. From where I sat, Kevin Durant’s speech represented everything that’s wrong with sports and America, for that matter. Here is my point-by-point breakdown of this disgraceful display.
_____
Says Derek Fisher is old.Ok.

Says texts from Kendrick Perkins make him cry.

I’ll just leave that at that.

Assumes Thabo doesn’t speak English presumably because of the way his name is spelled, so doesn’t talk to him.

Sounds like a great teammate.

Acknowledges he doesn’t know why he’s crying so much.

That’s funny because we don’t know why you haven’t developed a post game.

Says Serge can’t speak English.

Two mentions!

Thanks Serge for all their many arguments/discussions/pep talks

He doesn’t speak English, KD, how are these things even possible?

Acknowledges he left young teammates off group text to team.

Way to remedy the situation, KD. I’m sure they all felt great when you told them you “set the example for them.”

States Russell Westbrook would run through a wall.

So you think your teammate is stupid, KD? I presume he knows what doors are and how to use them.

Durant begins to thank the coaching staff saying, “I know there’s days you look at that film and want to kill me.”

You know Thunder coaches watch film, KD.

Durant thanks fans, calls them the best, says he wants to win a championship for them.

Oklahoma fans to Durant: “What times kickoff for OU/Louisiana Tech?”

Calls Mom MVP.

I DON’T SEE HER NAME ON THE TROPHY, KEVIN.

It’s clear this speech is loaded with the type of fake humility that currently plagues American sports. Oh we can’t handle Richard Sherman telling us how awesome he is, but dude gets up on stage in a suit, cries a few tears and pretends like he cares and that’s universally applauded? Yeah, that’s what’s wrong with American sports. We can’t even tell who is telling the truth!
